Lunchnotes

Sometimes I draw things for my boyfriend Kenny Duquet Here are some of those. I'll post them as I make them I guess.

The first drawing is because I've been finding a lot of baby spiders in my room lately. Ken says I should train them, so I put on my dancing vest and whipped those spiders into shape. *kick**quick step***kick ball change**dance dance*

The second drawing is of me if I was a cowgirl wizard. That was my next professional choice if art fails me.

More soon.

hey guys. I'm also a graphic designer!

This is a 3rd draft I'm currently working on for a client. I created the carrot heart logo in photoshop and illustrator and have been working on this project for a couple of hours. I think it's coming along pretty well :)

Current Workings

The month of March starts off with me getting those matryoshka doll cards finally printed and up on the etsy shop. I just ordered a bunch of them so they should be up in the store soon. Also postcards will be up soon too, promise. Currently working on the childrens book commission, so far completed are 3 spreads final drawings. I also just started working on another card--a thankyou cat card. It's pretty great. The image for this post is the original drawing.

See you later,

Hats/Scarves

Thursday I worked at a hat and scarves kiosk in the mall for 5 hours. It was my first day and I brought a sketchbook knowing that it would be slow on a Thursday night. I saw a lot of interesting things. In particular I watched two scene 19 year olds go into DEB and take two mannequin arms out of the store and hit each other with them as they walked out. I told the managers at DEB they were pretty pissed. I don't think those kids got caught either. I had to talk to the mall security guard, an old man. I don't think he wanted to chase teens around the mall in a quest for mannequin arms. Anyway I drew a lot of girls in animal hats. A lot of those outfits I saw walking around the mall.

Card preview 2/1/11

Here's a design for a greeting card I'm presently working on. Matryoshka dolls are pretty hot right now, and everyone loves a good floral design.

Sketch book project

I wanted to start a project influenced by my favorite bands albums right now. I think I'm going to make a whole sketchbook devoted to just the songs on the Suburbs Album by Arcade Fire first. I made this image after listening to the whole album a bunch of times. The logo part isn't mine but the rest of the image is.

New Year New Project: 2011 GO!

2011 Brings with it a bunch of new projects I want to work on. Some paintings, drawings, a childrens book in the works, and a possible move to the South. So with that I bring you my first character concept sketch(es) of my newest endeavor "Who needs bears?". I got a commission to do the art and design for a childrens book for a non profit organization: Jayme's Fund . The book is about 32 pages in length and is about a small girl or sprite like creature who is building bears in her workshop and wants to know where they are going. The story is loosely based on Jayme (the names sake of Jayme's fund) who started a similar project for sick kids in the community and made bears for them in her spare time. The thought for the book is that it will be paired with a small home made bear stuffed animal.

My concept for the character is a small girl with big eyes and yarn ball looking hair. I gave her some pretty hip clothes to break the elfish wardrobe stereotype. I like the little design on the tights and the satchel bag. More Sketches to come!
